HOW IMPORTANT IS A MEDIA KIT?
Your publication's media kit serves a very important function: provide possible advertisers with the Who, Why, What, Where, When of your magazine. In many instances possible advertisers will look at your media kit without seeing the actual publication, so the media kit needs to demonstrate to potential customers the style and voice of your magazine, and why it's important for these advertisers to come on board with you.
DETAILS
1. Pricing for media kits begins at our five page template: cover page, editorial, reader demo, distribution, ad sizes/rates.
2. We can search and find demographics, household income, and other information about your audience for you for extra rates.
3. We recommend you provide us with photos relevant to the publication or we can search and find stock photos at additional rates.
Below are a few media kits we developed for a variety of clients. Some of these titles were eventually launched, some where not.
WHAT SHOULD A MEDIA KIT INCLUDE?
We believe a media kit should include at the minimum four essential sections (though more is always better):
• Reader breakdown: geographic distribution, age, income, shopping habits
• Distribution breakdown: how is your magazine made available to your audience - free on-the-street, exclusive mailing, on newsstands?
• Editorial breakdown: what kind of stories does the magazine cover, what is your editorial calendar, what is your editorial tone?
• Ad sizes and rates: some magazines balk at making rates available, but unless your rates are too high, why hide them? (We can help you calculate the best ad rates for your magazine.)
